As you may have noticed, Bubbly by the Bay is no more and The City Society has taken its place. But why?
Bubbly by the Bay started about a year and a half ago, when we first moved to the Bay Area. I was living in the Peninsula, jobless, hanging out with my pup and cooking all day. Doesn’t sound that bad, right? Well, for me it was. I was so incredibly BOOOOORED. Our rent had more than doubled but our income hadn’t so it was a lot of spending time at home and job searching. Wah waaaaah.
Bubbly by the Bay was a great outlet for me as I cooked my way through that time and explored the local food and bar scene with my husband on the weekends. We lived by the bay, I saw it as a foodie Instagram, I’m known for my love of Bubbly. It just really fit at the time. It’s what I needed.
Fast forward a little over a year and, it’s weird to say, but I’m a completely different person. Those close to me might not see it as much but I can sure feel it. I started working at a Non-profit in the Presidio last June but wasn’t happy with the organization so moved to another non-profit right on the line of Union Square and the Tenderloin. Walking from the 4th St Caltrain Station to my office everyday (about a mile and a half each way), I see every aspect of life. Diversity, Wealth Inequality, Excessive Wealth, Businessmen and women, Homeless men and women, Children walking themselves to school, Trash, Some of the Worlds Best Restaurants, Luxury Hotels and Shopping, Halfway Houses and Homeless Shelters. There’s so much more to share about life in the City (San Francisco and others), life as a woman, life as a (n old) millennial, life that is more than just the best places to drink champagne or where I am shopping.
Those posts will still come up but I want to share more that just that. I want to have more discussion and make more discoveries. I hope you are looking forward to reading more about those things.
Whether you live in a huge city, a small town, or a tiny village, everything we enjoy is the product of people, goals and dreams. This new concept is about enjoying the amazing blessings we all have while remembering the people behind them, being honest about the struggles we all feel regardless of what our Instagram feed portrays and, yeah, it’s still about finding killer style deals and the most magical experiences in my city that you can easily find in yours.
